Surfshark VPN service test
Cheap, fast, versatile

Nowadays, a lot of people use a VPN connection, since on the one hand it encrypts your traffic, websites can't track you, and on the other hand it allows you to bypass a lot of restrictions. THE Surfshark however, you can do more with a subscription windows vagy androidos can also be installed on the system - even also for smart TV -, it has an ad blocker, antivirus, kill switch, alarm service and much more, and in the case of the larger package, the monthly fee can be reduced to 2,37 euros, i.e. HUF 900. But what is the service like? That's what we were after.
From this, it can be guessed that your packages pass through the servers of your service provider, who create logs of your traffic.
There are many reasons why they do this, but the bottom line is that your activities are stored. This is in many ways - e.g. data security, anonymity, etc. - it's especially disadvantageous, but what's the biggest problem is that what you do online can be tracked. This is where he comes into the picture the VPN, which builds an encrypted channel between your computer and the VPN provider's server, providing a kind of jumping off point for your traffic. The other side can only trace the data back to the VPN provider's server, where the process is interrupted and it cannot be linked to you.

The better VPN providers, like Surfshark, have so-called “strict no-logs policyThey work with ", that is they do not monitor and store the traffic passing through them, since the essence of their service is anonymity. If this is not enough, you can use "multi-hop” solution, in this case packets are routed between several VPN servers, which makes tracing even more complicated. You can check that your IP address has been changed in two ways, one is the above-mentioned IP checking pages, the other is tracert command , which must also be issued from the command line, and a target address must also be specified, e.g.: tracert www.index.hu, here, if you were clever, you should see the addresses of foreign service providers.
Let's take a closer look at what the VPN service is good for:
- a encrypted channel makes it difficult or impossible to track your data (anonymous browsing can even falsify the GPS location of your mobile phone)
- increases online security (e.g. when using public WiFi)
- allows access to certain region-locked sites and services
- if a page is not accessible from Europe due to the lack of GDPR regulation, it also bypasses it
- hides the source of the torrent download, masks adult content (yes, according to statistics, quite a lot of people use VPN for this kind of thing)
- they could take advantage of certain Targett promotions for the region (I read about such things in connection with plane tickets)

What you need to know about Surfshark is that it is one of the market-leading providers - they usually finish in the Top 3 in tests -,
who specifically offers a surprisingly wide range of services at a low price, which it covers not only VPN, but also the antivirus market segment, for example. According to my experience, both the company and their service are very professional, but I really liked two things about them: that they are fast and that their surfaces are transparent. I didn't have to look for almost anything, everything gave itself to me right away, but if you still can't find something, the their website it is very easy to understand and really answers everything. In addition, their service is audited by external actors, and a number of big-name computer technology sites – Pcmag, Techradar, Cnet, etc. - he praised them with shame. Of course, these are just words, let's see what you get for your money:
- fast and easy-to-use VPN service: you can choose from more than 3200 servers, 110 locations and 65 countries
- able to rotate IPs, within a given region
- noborders solution: bypasses various VPN blocking solutions (this may come in handy in countries where some content is filtered, but I could not objectively test this)
- hides the local – LAN – your computer from others on the network
- tud multihop - traffic routed through several servers - service, which is even more secure than the plain one
- there is a so-called “kill switch” function which disconnects when the VPN goes down
- A Surfshark One within the framework of extra service:
- Surfshark Antivirus: antivirus service
- Surfshark Search: advertising filter, practically an adblocker, but you don't need to install anything in the browser, it automatically removes the advertisements, and the targeting that targets you doesn't work either
- Surfshark Alert: alert service if your bank card or email address has been compromised
As you can see from the list above, there are basically two packages, Surfshark VPN, and Surfshark One, which is based on it and cannot be selected separately, which is a package that also includes additional antivirus, search and other security solutions, in exchange for a small surcharge .

Surfshark VPN - Speed and Simplicity
I'll start with the plain VPN, which very easy to install, you have to download an app from which it is Windows, Mac and Linux versions, and for mobile devices Android or iOS can be considered. They also have a browser-based plugin It can be installed on Chrome, Firefox and Edge browsers as well as on smart TVs, including Amazon Fire or Android TV devices. The big advantage of Surfshark is that the client can be installed on any number of devices with one subscription - competitors don't usually know this - there is no IP limitation, it went smoothly over public WiFi, local network and mobile internet.
And IT geeks will be happy that the VPN service can be implemented directly into routers,
are supported by DD-WRT, The AsusWRT, The OpenWRT and the Tomato systems as well. The devices on which Surfshark VPN runs can also be managed on their website, and they also offer a Smart DNS service as part of the package if you want to stream.

The service feels very fast, I only noticed a minimal slowdown when turning on the multihop solution, but that's not dangerous either.
I rotated the IPs back and forth between continents, but the internet connection was completely usable on all of them. I also streamed Netflix on it, it went without a problem, I didn't feel a slowdown, but it's worth knowing that these are region-locked services, so if you have a domestic subscription, it will probably work from EU countries, but not from the USA or Australia. Many people may think that if the service is cheaper in another region, you can buy it via VPN and then use it in the same way, cheaper. It works the other way around, too ABC SharkTank I managed to unlock your service with a German IP and watch a part, which is strange because it is an American service provider.
The previously mentioned To illustrate the avoidance of a GDPR problem a PetMed Express I used the website of a pet store from an American IP, even though this is a site that is not available for Europeans. Overall, the service is pretty good, I was very satisfied with it.

Surfshark One package - All in one, for pennies
A They charge a little extra for the One package on top of the basic VPN service - 1,42 EUR per month - but I think the extra functions are more than worth it. One of the ClearWeb, which effectively an adblocker, but you don't need to install anything in your browser.
This doesn't seem like a big deal, but for example, we had to install the Surfshark client on 2 phones, 2 laptops and a tablet - and we don't have a smart TV and no other family members in the household - and usually competitors only allow 5-7 devices within a subscription, and Surfshark an infinite number.
The essence of adblock services is to block advertisements embedded in websites,
pop-ups and the like. The beauty of it is that Surfshark's solution doesn't work yet under YouTube, as well as adblock blocking sites, cannot be deactivated either, for example, this is how it works on Totalcar. In other cases, however, it can be used well, and it is not necessary to install a separate add-on in each browser. Surfshark Antivirus is an antivirus, I ran it, luckily it didn't find anything. There are faster and slower ways, and you can time the searches. It does not provide real-time protection, but you are promised that it will arrive in the near future. All Surfshark Search does is open an "incognito window" in the currently running browser, which excludes tracking cookies.

I liked Surfshark Alert the most.
It can monitor several things, e-mail addresses, bank card numbers and personal data, although the latter currently only handles the identity cards of American, Bulgarian and Lithuanian persons. The thing is, it does the data of my email address has been leaked several times, and unfortunately my previous usernames/passwords - which of course I changed a long time ago - were faithfully listed by the Surfshark site. An important lesson is that none of your registration passwords should ever be the same as your email account password. Of course, the Surfshark client can also send reports and alerts about the above.

Overall, I think so each service is useful, so it is worth the extra charge of a few hundred forints that they ask for it, but they can also be triggered in other ways, on the other hand they are much easier to acquire and manage as a single unit.
Summary
Surfshark is one of the leading VPN providers, so it is impossible to not have enough fast, secure or simply transparent. It fulfills them to the maximum, at an extremely low price, with one subscription, for any number of devices. The company also provides other extra services that work well from time to time. I used this word because in the world of the Internet there is a constant battle between those who advertise and those who don't want to watch advertising, and those who watch and those who want to avoid it. I see the winners right now are the lurkers, which services like Surfshark's VPN help a lot with, but so I had to play tricks in some places, so that everything works perfectly.
As for the price of the service, it is the cheapest if you have subscribed for 24 months, but you have to pay for 2 years in advance. This 56,78 euros means, you have to divide this by 24, so you get a €2,37 per month, that is, a 900 FtDue to the conversion rates of the webshops, the prices may differ for different currencies (e.g. if you set the webshop to HUF, the prices are usually higher than if you set it to USD). The prices indicated in the article are informative and in all cases are HUF equivalents of the price displayed on the webshop's interface in USD (or in EUR, if there is no USD option) (according to the interbank exchange rate valid at the time of writing the article).. It has a 30-day money-back guarantee, so there is no big risk, and you can also pay with PayPal. If you also request the Surfshark One extra pack, it is additional 1,42 euros, that is, in total 3,8 euros, converted 1450 FtDue to the conversion rates of the webshops, the prices may differ for different currencies (e.g. if you set the webshop to HUF, the prices are usually higher than if you set it to USD). The prices indicated in the article are informative and in all cases are HUF equivalents of the price displayed on the webshop's interface in USD (or in EUR, if there is no USD option) (according to the interbank exchange rate valid at the time of writing the article).-ot you have to pay monthly for a VPN, an antivirus, an ad blocker, and an alert service, which really doesn't seem like much.
If, on the other hand, they paid for it monthly, then the amounts are the same 4700 and for HUF 5250 jump, so you should choose the former, longer-term subscription model.
Pro
- Cheap
- Fast and reliable
- Countless servers and options for exchanging IP addresses
- Antivirus, alarm and ad blocking services all in one
- Perhaps the most important advantage: the client can be installed on any number of devices with one subscription
- Transparent, easy-to-use interface
Kontra
- The ad blocker doesn't bypass YouTube ads and sites that block ad blockers either
