Xiaomi Smart Band 8 Pro activity meter test
The king is one-eyed among the blind

The Xiaomi Smart Band 8 Pro is the smartest activity tracker in the Xiaomi universe. It has satellite positioning, boasts a huge AMOLED display, looks like a smart watch, stores 15 watch faces, manages 150+ sports and doesn't ask for all the money in the world. It costs HUF 28 at Alza, which is a fair price, but will it live up to expectations?
The quality is exemplary,
the glass panel of the display is hardened with Corning Gorilla Glass 3, the body is made of fiber-reinforced plastic, and it is waterproof up to 5 ATM, to the delight of water sports enthusiasts. Again, there are plenty of dials to choose from, some can even be partially customized, but to a more limited extent than I expected. One color or function can be replaced, moreover It also stores 15 pieces, which seems a bit overkill, but according to them, this is what the market wants.

In the case of the Xiaomi Smart Band 8 Pro, the adult look is given by a large display compared to the activity meters.
Az 1,74-inch AMOLED display, refreshing at 60 Hz, supporting 16,7 million colors its razor-sharp image looks particularly good, a 336×480 pixel resolution and easily surpasses smaller competitors. THE brightness 600 nits, which is not bad, but it doesn't glow like a nuclear flash in sunlight, although it can still be used. The size of the Pro is also not negligible, the 46x33x10 mm rectangle is anything but unnoticeable, squinting, when viewed from a greater distance, people simply say it's a smart watch. In this sense, its biggest competitor also comes from Amazfit's forging workshop redmi watch 4, but it is ten times cheaper than that.
And this is no accident, since it is still just an activity meter, even if the sensor set is one was expanded with a satellite receiver supporting five systems, but otherwise it copies the skills of its cheaper relative, the Xiaomi Smart Band 8. So in addition to the light sensor, gyroscope, pulse oximeter, accelerometer and BT module, you will also have a GPS connection, which is why, in principle, you don't even have to carry a mobile phone with you. Just now the function of listening to music from the backup storage is missing and there is no electronic payment without an NFC chip, so the phone will still come in handy. By the way, the sensor visible on the stomach is huge, I was curious to see what it would provide during the tests.
The battery of the Xiaomi Smart Band 8 Pro was also pumped up well, the 289 mAh battery fit into the large housing.
This is not enough for poster data, but the all-measuring activity meter with a large display, supplemented with many GPS-based sports, demands its electrons. The manufacturer claims two weeks, based on my experience, 5-6 days average use, but with roughly running laps, this can be reduced to 3-4 days, although not everyone pushes 2-3, 10-15 kilometer trips per week. And if you turn on the Alwasy on Display function, which works with otherwise not very nice graphics, then the operating time will be extremely short, so I didn't use it. It takes 1 hour to charge, just like the one smaller model.
The one I am testing is the Xiaomi Smart Band 8 Pro fully supported the Hungarian language, and last year there were reports that there would be no global version, so you don't have to fight with the Chinese version, it simply ate the "flood-resistant mirror drill" test text. In the Mi Fintess app, however, there were some strange translations, for example, the "watch strap dial" is not so convincing.
At this point in the test I felt that the Xiaomi Smart Band 8 Pro could flash something, so that I don't put the "it's a Xiaomi Smart Band 8, only with a bigger display and GPS" stamp on it. That's when I saw the official site the improved health monitoring, which consists of measuring stress level, pulse, blood oxygen level, sleep monitoring, and tracking menstruation, I omitted the latter due to lack of skills. However, I did not experience a big change, it does the same thing as the Smart Band 8.
I thought that if there is already a PPG sensor the size of a mountain at the bottom, everything will be smooth here, it will measure like a little angel. By comparison he managed to detect my pulse values for the fourth time, after that he performed quite well. It's a bit different compared to my fingertip pulse oximeter, it tracks about 3-4 beats and quite slowly, it seems to have similar capabilities to the cheaper Smart Band 8s. Regarding the blood oxygen level measurement, I still don't understand why you have to wait so long for the value, when the HUF 5000 pharmacy stuff can measure the same thing continuously. The deviation is 1-2%, not significant.

It accurately measures sleep data and stress levels,
let's say he didn't have a hard time with me, since I'm not particularly stressed, and I don't have big swings in my sleep either. I consider vitality points to be a big scam, he gave me a million points for the runs so far, but after 3 hours of bouldering, when I was lying dead on the couch, he didn't even reward me with a fifth. Overall, the Xiaomi Smart Band 8 Pro is at home in sports, just it does not promise so many new things compared to smaller models, excluding GPS. This captures accurately and quickly, it is better to follow the route data than with the phone, but due to the lack of the already mentioned backup music playback, I definitely have to carry the mobile with me, so this is really only a half-solution.
As for its other features, it is pretty much the same as the Xiaomi Smart Band 8,
at least I didn't find any difference in the menu - apart from the fact that due to the larger display, the menu can be rearranged from list view to "Apple" - so you can find the full list of functions in the test of the little brother. so torture came with sports, because it is much more real than resting heart rate, blood oxygen level and similar data if you look at the product during exercise. We strained each other during the following activities:
- running (known as outdoor running)
- stretching (known as flexibility)
- bouldering (known as wall climbing)
- foosball

What I really liked about the Xiaomi Smart Band 8 Pro is that they all have a dedicated sports function,
in fact, in some places I felt that the matter was pushed a little too far. For example, some of the exercises I do in my own bodyweight training can be classified as core training, strength, cross training, physical training, push-ups, sit-ups, upper body, lower body, abs, back and the like, here the less would have been more. There is no separate bouldering or mandatory climbing for wall climbing, but I think that will not cause anyone to fall on their swords. You can see the measured results in the gallery, they are the same as the Smart Band 8, except the run, where I got much more accurate location data due to the use of GPS.
There is also an interesting "easter egg" in the Chinese version of Mi Fitness, which can be downloaded from APKmirror, because it is not included in the official Google Play store. On the one hand, this supports other devices in the workout section - treadmill, smart skipping rope - and there are fun games like air boxing, also known as AIDONG, which is most similar to older Nintendo Wii jump-and-bugger games. Sajnos is not supported by the global version, but it would have been fun to try.

It's also worth talking a little about message management, which didn't want to work at first.
They kept coming to my phone, but for some reason it didn't want to transfer the same information to the activity meter via the Mi Fitness app. This is hair removal not the first case, I had this problem with previous Smart Band series, usually restarting helps. The rough thing about the whole thing is that even if you press it in vain, the rough thing is that even if you press it in the software, after the restart a blue message appears asking you to turn on what was already on, which is completely incomprehensible.
And now come what makes it worth buying the Xiaomi Smart Band 8 Pro, among other things:
on the large display, the drivers can finally be read sensibly.
You can't even answer in a predefined way, but this was also the case with his other brothers. In order to display messages in the case of Messenger, don't forget to turn on the notification preview, it is not enough to enable notifications and sounds, and you also have to do it in other programs in places, I think there are security reasons for this.
Summary
In the case of the Xiaomi Smart Band 8 Pro, I had the feeling that it's a wannabe smartwatch stuck between activity trackers. Its smart bracelet is not belied by the fact that essentially the same as the Xiaomi Smart Band 8, just it has a bigger display, because of this, the readability of the messages is better, and it received a sensor suitable for satellite positioning, that is GPSt. But that almost doubled the price, so the question is whether or not you're willing to pay for it. If you are a dedicated athlete, the knowledge of the activity meter will be limited, however perfect choice for occasional exercisers, and still more mature and better quality than Smart Band 8 or Active.
In light of this, the 28 000 Ftprice is fair, but the competition in the activity meter/smartwatch segment is killer, one for a little more there a redmi watch 4, for much more and dozens of competitors, so it is worth looking around Alza at the "smart bracelets and activity trackers” section, to see if you can find a model you like even more.
Az AlzaPlus+ and I specifically recommend the service, because it is the products are delivered quickly and free of charge - with the exception of direct home delivery, but there are already AlzaBoxes almost everywhere - and the online store also treats you to a number of unique promotions.
