The Xiaomi Smart Band series is probably the best-selling activity tracker of all time. People don't buy 120 million units by accident, so the 8th generation can also be of great interest. Low price, AMOLED display, brutally long operating time, support for 150+ sports and countless body data measurements for HUF 17 in exchange, from Alza, from which, according to my experience, the goods arrive very quickly.

Be the first

The quality is still top-notch, and you can vary the look with straps, watch faces,

of which hundreds are available for this series as well. The role of the display is one It is filled by a 1,62-inch, 192×490 pixel panel, which is already capable Refresh at 60 Hz, which makes the page feel very continuous. Its brightness is 600 nits, which is not bad, it needs a little more, and it would really always be visible.

There are a million watch faces here too,

you can also change their color and the higher resolution compared to the Xiaomi Smart Band 8 Active is also good for the look. By varying these a the gadget can be brutally customized with countless metal, leather and plastic straps, worn on running shoes or as a necklace, which I think is the main advantage of the stuff. Since the watch is manufactured by Amazfit for Xiaomi, you can also download all kinds of watch faces from the AmazfitWatchfaces page, and even those who read a little can even make their own. There are also dials with mini games also in the Fresh and Fun category of the Mi Fitness app. For example, Fighter, when we have to box the Smart Band 8 and measure the force of the blow, or Smashed Screen, when we have to break the display, but there are also crawling and ball games.

Despite this, I felt a slight smell of sweat in connection with the Xiaomi Smart Band 8, they can't really do anything about the look anymore,

it's like the previous 2 generations were like that too. In any case, you could make a great quiz out of which device belongs to which generation. The compact design has one big advantage: the activity meter Water resistant up to 5 ATM, that is, you can not only take a shower, but also do all kinds of water sports in it. The standard 2-pin USB cable is responsible for charging, which Charges 1% of the 100 mAh battery in 190 hour, with which even in medical mouse mode It lasts for 16 days the Smart Band, but the one-week operating time with average use is much more realistic.

The sensor set has not changed much compared to previous generations or the Smart Band 8 Active,

the reason for the scarcity is probably the price. There is gyroscope and accelerometer for watching the swing of the wrist, light sensor, PPG for pulse and blood oxygen level measurement, BT module for data synchronization, and nothing else.

A sore point is the lack of NFC,

which the Chinese have been promising for I don't know how many generations, but somehow these versions never make it to Europe, even though this would be the basis of electronic payment, and the usability of the Xiaomi Smart Band 8 could also improve with this.

Xiaomi Smart Band 8 activity measurement test - The sports performance is brutal, but there is still a feeling of lack

Anyone who has used any Xiaomi Smart Band 8 in their life knows them all, because the logic of turning the page right, left and up and down is so simple that even a 5-year-old child will recognize it. Nevertheless, due to the number of functions, it is worth running through what exactly the 8th generation can do.

Xiaomi Smart Band 8 Active from his test I moved up the list of options and indicated in italics where there is some change between the two models. Xiaomi Smart Band 8 can monitor the following:

  • calories burned
  • number of steps
  • movement time
  • sleep data (REM, non-REM phase, number of awakenings)
  • heart rate
  • blood oxygen level
  • stess level
  • menstrual cycle
  • time to sit and stand (warns you to move, but scares you to death)
  • your crowd
  • sports that can be started from the app page: outdoor running, treadmill, walking, outdoor cycling
  • can be started from the activity meter page sports: 150+
  • pebble mode for running: with a special accessory, it can monitor your movements while running
  • smart companion mode: you can run a "rabbit" while running, that is, fight against a virtual opponent
  • predefined training types for running
  • notifications and messaging
  • Unlocking Bluetooth devices - that is, your phone
  • weather, time display
  • other little things like flashlight, DND, music and camera control, alarm, stopwatch, timer, phone search

In addition to the above list, there are a few clever things that I noticed while using it. One is that third device data on the activity meter – for example, the charge of the earphones connected to my phone – also appear that is, what appears as a pop-up on your mobile phone is transmitted by the system to the display of the Xiaomi Smart Band 8, which is very useful. Unfortunately, it only works with Xiaomi mobile phones and the company's sub-brands, such as Poco's products. I can't say too much about message handling, supports the entire Hungarian ABC, app alerts arrive, and in the case of Messenger messages, who sent it and what was written, but it is not possible to respond even with predefined options.

You can switch the activity meter to necklace or running shoe mode,

in such cases, you can also wear it in these places if you buy the special case for the Band, which is not included in the basic box. As for sports, a 150 activities are so many that I couldn't even say that many by heart. From this point of view, its brother named Active is much more limited, because even the most perverted forms of movement fit into the 150 pieces. To my great pleasure indoor climbing and foosball are also included, and I was also able to test the latter under professional conditions. I was a little skeptical that I would get meaningful data back, but luckily I was wrong. Obviously, the activity meter cannot tell you how fast you shoot or pass, but e.g. the stress level – and thus the pressure resistance – can also be tested, and the load can be inferred from the heart rate data.

Let's say I would deny that I burned 3 kilocalories in 530 hours, because we spent 2 hours talking

so this information is definitely false and the energy consumption from the operation of my basic metabolism is measured separately by the Xiaomi Smart Band 8, so this cannot cause the high value either. In case of wall climbing, I experienced something similar when I wanted to die on one of the roads, it displayed heart rate increases nicely, but even when I just sat down, I burned calories like there was no tomorrow. On the contrary returned much more real data per run, so my conclusion is that where you don't get sensor data - e.g. number of steps and heart rate - the Smart Band 8 takes some kind of average as its basis, and the result of this will be a huge fluctuation from time to time, but in the long run the results will be more or less the same. It's not nearly as accurate as more expensive competitors, but it's worth it.

Sometimes, however, I felt that the Xiaomi Smart Band 8 overdid the cleverness.

I was sitting on the toilet, and he says: get up. It's standing With my ACGAM electric table opposite, then warns that it is time to stand up. But hey that's what i'm doing. An hour later, he tells me that I should move now, while I'm preparing lunch in the kitchen. let's face it this is not very useful, so I turned off the motion warning function.

Since the PPG sensor of the Smart Band 8 differs from the Xiaomi Smart Band 8 Active - the former has 3, the latter 2 LEDs -, therefore I remeasured the pulse and blood oxygen level data. For this, I used a pharmacy pulse oximeter, because it dynamically shows the changes, and thus can be compared relatively easily with the data shown on the dial of the activity meter. I have to say, very accurate at rest, I experienced deviations of 1-2 heartbeats, and 1-2% in the case of blood oxygen levels.

Regarding heart rate measurement, I still maintain that it is much more inaccurate and slow to follow changes during exercise, so use an ECG-based chest strap.

And for external data sharing, there is still the Strava, Google Fit and Suunto interface, but this is understandable, the entire Xiaomi Smart Band 8 series uses the same app, the We Fitness use.

Summary

I understand why they charge more for the Xiaomi Smart Band 8 than the Active version. The higher the price, the better. it has a much nicer display, higher resolution and supports a lot of sports, which basically filters the range of users. The lack of NFC is a sore point for me, but I have a feeling that not many people will fall for it, especially since all phones know this today. There aren't really any faults with the Eight, except for stone's simple message management, a and its variability is brutal, everyone can customize the gadget to their own taste. Stepping up, there is the Xiaomi Smart Band 8 Pro, with GPS and some fancy functions.

17 990 They ask HUF for it At Alsa, from which, according to my experience, the items arrive very quickly if you request them in AlzaBox, even where this is possible. Of course, it's always worth checking out the "Smart bracelets and activity trackers” section, in case you find an even more interesting model.

Az AlzaPlus+ and I specifically recommend the service, because it is the delivery of the products is particularly fast and free - with the exception of direct home delivery - and the online store also treats you to a number of unique promotions.
