The Blackview Shark 8 is the company's mid-range smartphone with 8GB of RAM, 256GB of storage, a 120Hz display and other goodies like an NFC chip. It was priced at a good "deep", so it slips out of the grasp of competitors, but did I not find a catch on it elsewhere? Be the first

Not so in the case of the Blackview Shark 8, which, when I tried to pull it off the back, the material lifted.

The company cured the sticker so strongly that the plastic backing actually bends when you peel it off, and then some very stubborn adhesive glue remains underneath. I tried to take this off with a sponge, gentle rubbing, with which I managed to fade and scratch the low-quality material, even though the press material says "anti-scratch", which I would call it this way. In other words, I recommend everyone to leave it on the device, it's not very nice, but it is what it is, and it can only make the situation worse. I would say that the mobile phone is well put together, but in some places the "as if" feeling is very noticeable. The plastic that imitates brushed aluminum doesn't look bad, but it's still far from premium. The overall effect is not bad, rather average, but not offensive at all there are very nice, gradient variants also from the mobile phone, which are particularly attractive.

Just as the phone's thickness - 8,35 mm - and weight - 198 grams - are fine, the 6,78-inch display dominates the front,

the Type-C port capable of 33 W fast charging is hidden at the bottom. Next to it is the jack input and the mono speaker, and on the front is the fingerprint reader. There is no infrared, this is not a Xiaomi and anyway few people use it anymore. Instead, the lenses and the flash reign supreme on the circular camera island. In fact, nothing is really missing, but there is no magic, just as there are tons of spec sensors available under the "hood".

Fortunately, it has dual WiFi, Bluetooth, NFC, satellite positioning, OTG

and that's about it, no compass, no gyroscope, no other extras were put on board. Here I already felt that the low price was achieved, fortunately they didn't skimp on the battery. You can manage from 5000 mAh, and this should be taken literally, because DokeOS 4.0 does not like to launch apps and many apps can sink the battery like a pebble thrown into a well, until you stop it. After that, the operating time will be 1-1,5 days, with economical use, even 2 will be added, but a significantly hungrier SoC is MTK's salvation than the newer Snapdragons. Uploading is fast the 33 W completes its task in about 1 hour.

Blackview Shark 8 Smartphone Test - Thrifty Hardware

The hardware didn't make me swoon, but what was packed into the Blackview Shark 8 didn't hurt either. 8 GB RAM – with the usual war of +8 GB of virtual memory – can be associated with 128 or 256 GB storage, one about moving the bits MTK Helio G99-and tile takes care of it. This is a relatively low-end product, but it is not a bad product, it is often found in cheap stores.

I found so much information about the backup storage that it supports the UFS2.2 standard, so it can move data quickly if necessary.

Of course, these values are always such that it depends on where I look at it, because if I take sequential writing into account, it is four times faster than random access. But let's not multiply the word any further, here are the measured results:

  • Antutu V10: 416 points
  • GFX Bench, T-Rex on-screen/off-screen test: 51/64 FPS (with 120 FPs image refresh)
  • Antutu storage tester, write/read: 42 points; 607/1014 Mbps (sequential)
  • PcMark Work 3.0: 10 points

Among the numbers above, you can spot something interesting, namely the 51 FPS result of the GFX Bench T-Rex on-screen test. This means that the hardware is not able to drive even 60 Hz, this is for example the Poco X6 Pro at 5G stuck like a draft at 60 FPS. The result is not bad, but it is Little X4 Pro he also brought it 2,5 years ago, although it cost twice as much then. I played with it, but somehow the iron doesn't like it, it gets a little hot, which is no wonder, since it's 27 degrees Celsius even in the room now. Of course, the effect of the games scale themselves nicely compared to the performance of the hardware, so they make room for gaming, but this is not a phone designed for this.

The display of the Blackview Shark has a gigantic resolution, perhaps the best part of the phone.

That is, it would be if the hardware were in the market 2,4 Ks, with Full HD+ display, which is the resolution 1080×2460 pixels and refreshes at 120 Hz. The aspect ratio is pretty weird. 20:9, on the other hand, due to the high resolution, it is good to surf the net on it, but less so to watch videos. The panel I think IPS technological, I couldn't find its brightness, I guess 500-600 nits, can also be used in sunlight, The colors of the panel are very good, the contours are razor sharp, I think it stands out from the category, but nowadays everyone is so used to AMOLED that it doesn't even appear that there are still decent IPS panels. And the 120 Hz image refresh gives a continuous scrolling feeling, it's much better to flip this than the 60 Hz counters.

The Blackview Shark 8 also received its own user interface called DokeOS,

which comes with version 4.0 and basically For Android 13 build. The system is not bad, I liked the relatively no-frills but nice-looking menus, which were structured quite logically. But the biggest merit is that no ads and preinstalled unnecessary apps, which recently, for example, Xiaomi and Poco's phones can't get away from. What's more, the interface packs additional functions quite cleverly, when a call comes in, the voice recording appears, and so on. And what can be customized in it - adaptive dark mode, text reduction, row-column number of icons, emergency call, etc. -, they are almost all useful and their place is also logical. Maybe it's just that the names are strange in some places, for example "Smooth Display" is the name of the image update setting, which I found a little more difficult than usual, but I didn't run into any serious errors. However, there is no news about software updates, so it is not known how long the company will support its own device.

Let's come to a section in which there is no big snickering, and this is the Blackview Shark 8 camera section. If you just look at the camera island, it might look like you have 3 sensors and a flash, I think the design gave it that way. In fact, however:

  • 64 MP main camera
  • 16 MP selfie camera

And that is all. Plus, the selfie unit is by definition on the front, so two of the 3 cameras on the back are just there for decoration, they don't do anything. There is no ultra-wide or macro, only the main sensor, which is of course 16 megapixel it has a real resolution, only 64 MP thanks to the quadruple pixel binning. The pictures didn't make me swoon, but the colors are basically fine - but the clouds burn out - the sharpness of the lines is quite good, but the more distant objects and the vegetation can get washed out. I did not experience yellowing or turning blue, To there is a blurry spot on the left, which is likely to be a sensor error and others have experienced this. The problem is that the full resolution - 16 MP - is only available with a 4:3 aspect ratio, due to the strange display size, the same will be only 9 MP in full screen mode, so it is not worth using.

You don't have to overthink the night pictures, they're pretty weak,

but an upper-middle or top camera is expensive precisely because it produces good material even in low light, which you obviously cannot expect here.

Video recording is only possible at 1440p 30 FPS, there is no stabilization, although the camera menu states that there is,

I have pretty much said everything about the Blackview Shark 8. In any case, if you are not standing still, the quality will be poor due to jumps and jitters. If you want to shoot video with any phone, then EIS/OIS is mandatory, without it the end result will be unwatchable. If you hold the device steady and do not move or only rotate at a small angle, then it is possible to create satisfactory, although not very detailed, materials.

Summary

Budget phone, at a budget price, that's what the Blackview Shark 8 is about. And it's not bad, but of course the camera section can be put in brackets, it's only good for making very simple materials. Plus, savings can be seen in action in some places, for example the back panel is thin, there are fake cameras on the back, plus some not very important sensors - infrared, gyroscope, compass - were left out. There is, however, NFC, relatively accurate GPS, quite good hardware, 8 GB of RAM, with an acceptable SoC, large storage that can be expanded with micro SD and a pleasant display, which hangs above this price level.

The big question is whether a ORDER KINAIT07  coupon code 57 500 FtDue to the conversion rates of the webshops, the prices may differ for different currencies (e.g. if you set the webshop to HUF, the prices are usually higher than if you set it to USD). The prices indicated in the article are informative and in all cases are HUF equivalents of the price displayed on the webshop's interface in USD (or in EUR, if there is no USD option) (according to the interbank exchange rate valid at the time of writing the article). Can you tell me a cheaper price for a phone with similar technical parameters? I thought of the basic Redmi Note 12, but they have half as much RAM and storage. So for that price, the Blackview Shark 8 is not a bad offer and Gshopper delivers the product for free and even handles the extra costs.
