Poco is a sub-brand of the Xiaomi brand, and the Xiaomi Poco Pad is the only current model in the series. These devices are cheaper than the company's main brand, but you can still expect decent performance from hardware that includes 8GB of RAM, 256GB of storage, and a Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 SoC. Not to mention that the 12,1 Ah battery of the 10-inch tablet suggests a long operating time. They haven't pushed it too far, there's no case, keyboard, spare screen protector or touch pen, but buying these separately is not such a big task, they're all sold under the name Poco, quite expensive.

The use of materials is good, the appearance is nothing extra category, but I can't get involved in the assembly. The cover does not crack or crack, the stuff is solid, even though 12-inch tablets tend to twist, as it is N-One NPad Ultra I wrote about it. The boys weren't very creative, specifically I can't think of anything about the design, it's so neutral, the cameras at the back are reminiscent of the end of the 2010s, mostly nothing. But he is on the edge 4 Dolby Atmos capable speakers, so you get one of the typical advantages of large tablets - much better sound and it's harder to cover the sound sources with your palms - here.

There are certain Xiaomi achievements that the Xiaomi Poco Pad can partially own. Although there is no infrared port - why would it be on a tablet in 2024? - on the other hand there is a jack hook, so the sound does not need to be output via Type-C. It would be better to call the side SIM tray the micro SD card tray, because it does not accept a SIM - there is no 4G modem in it - and did not receive satellite support either, but it is the basic 256 GB storage can be expanded up to 1,5 TB. And it will be necessary, because these days a lot of games have grown to 20-30 GB in size.

The kinks need to be ironed out, the other wireless connections are impressive: there is dual-band WiFi 6, BT 5.2,

and a bunch of sensors, such as the compass, gyroscope, light sensor, pedometer - Who uses this for a tablet? -, accelerometer and of course the aforementioned four speakers.

You could have already guessed from its charger that it is the Xiaomi Poco Pad capable of 33 W fast charging. This needs to be done 10 mAh battery besides, the 571-gram, 280×182,5×75 mm tablet has a huge 12,1-inch display, which must be properly fed with energy. The manufacturer claims that you can record videos for 16 hours and read for 18 hours from a battery of this size, whatever that means, but I think they meant spinning e-books. After watching a video for one hour, with WiFi usage, the machine lost 4% at medium brightness, I didn't get much different data when I played the same from the backup, the result was 3%. Measured with the Work 3.0, the dip from 100 to 20% took 11 hours and 13 minutes, plus the remainder, so operating time of 12,5-13 hours is probable.

In the case of games, on the other hand, the electrons run out brutally, so don't expect more than a couple of hours of operating time.

Xiaomi Poco Pad tablet test - Hardware-type iron ensemble

One of the disadvantages of cheap tablets is that they save on hardware, thus keeping prices low. This tricky solution doesn't usually fail because a relatively low power is enough for surfing the net and watching videos, while games rescale themselves compared to the hardware, so you can avoid burning out. In the case of the Xiaomi Poco Pad, I expected something different, since 8 GB of RAM, 256 GB of storage supporting the UFS 2.2 standard and one Snapdragon 7s with Gen 2 the bits have to move in time.

In addition, this is a fairly recent board, it is based on a 4 nm strip width, so the Xiaomi Poco Pad's operating time is not unnecessarily consumed by the higher performance.

But what exactly does this mean compared to competitors? I looked for a tablet with a similar-sized display - the N-One Npad Ultra is like that - and I compared the results of the Xiaomi Poco Pad to it, the first value is the N-One, the second is the Poco:

  • Antutu V10: 351 points; 560 816 pont
  • GFX Bench, T-Rex on-screen/off-screen test: 42/46 FPS; 80 / 123 FPS
  • Antutu hard drive tester, write/read: point; /Mbps (sequential) 1022/553 MB/s; 912,7/832,7 MB / s
  • PCMark Work: 7713 points; 11939;

As you can see, the advantage of the Xiaomi Poco Pad is clear, more than one and a half times as strong, like the N-One, and this extra performance can be felt during use. Of course I shouldn't even mention that this amount of cocoa is more than what is needed for surfing the net and watching videos, so hardware-intensive games came to be. CarX Street - it doesn't scale to hardware, that's why I like it -, Genshin Impact, and as new names Wuthering Waves and Zenless Zone Zero, the latter one of the most hardware-intensive games of all time, in addition, the graphic parameters can be manually adjusted for these. These easily push the iron at higher settings, but they still fall into the category of extreme examples, but those who want to play with such names should not use the Poco Pad, but the Xiaomi 6S Pro take it.

As for the display, I think it turned out to be lavish, the 12,1-inch, 2560×1600 pixel IPS panel operates with great colors.

It's a shame that in the case of the Xiaomi Poco Pad they also chose a display that reflects, so maybe they would put a matte film on the glass protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3 surface treatment. THE maximum brightness of 600 nits, which is quite a lot, but why there is no 4G modem in the tablet, you won't take it out of the room very much, at most to the veranda. The panel refreshes at 120 Hz, it even makes the eyes less tired due to the low blue light emission, which the TÜV Rheinland certificate the evidence. There is also Dolby Vision support too, the colors are very nice, the unit is worthy of this price level.

The operating system could not be fresher, the new Hyper OS was added to the main version of Android 14, which replaced the MIUI user interface.

All in all, it's one a big step towards integrating Xiaomi's ecosystem, devices can work better together in this system, “a la” Apple and Samsung. The interface itself remains very clean and fast, but it works based on a slightly different logic than before. Overall, I like it, it takes some getting used to, but the extra functionality was worth the switch. There's no need to argue about who it's for, but it feels cleaner than MIUI, and the most important thing is that I encountered zero ads and the system was not burdened with any other pre-installed monstrosities, which is useful. What's more, it's free that the Widevine certificate is also L1, so you won't have any problems with materials from streaming providers.

Good cameras are always a big plus, and in the case of tablets, you have to pay tens of thousands for the right quality.

The manufacturers do not force this very much, at most in the premium segment, but the Xiaomi Poco Pad does not belong here. However, there is a twist in the matter there are two cameras on the back, but there is probably only one sensor behind it, so this is either a design element or the unit responsible for depth of field "lives" behind it, but there is actually no information about it in the press material. The hardware is as follows:

  • 8 MP rear camera
  • 8 MP front selfie camera

Of course, you shouldn't expect much from the sensors, but it's still better than average, second-line tablets. There is image stabilization - EIS -, but the resolution is low, which mainly fails when you want to shoot more distant pictures, since the contours are blurred and the colors are not real. But it's still better than cheaper tablets and, albeit limited, you can take good pictures with a lot of aspect ratios - 4:3, 16:9, full screen, etc. - next to There is also document scanning, which is useful with a tablet, and you can even take night pictures, which unfortunately sometimes border on the potential for evaluation. the question is who will use a 12,1-inch, 571-gram tablet for photographyi, I don't think there are too many.

As for the video capabilities, the Xiaomi Poco Pad did not shine here either, both units 1080p at 30 FPS can stitch together moving images, on the other hand, its light metering works quite poorly, the picture is also jerky, so it is not worth wasting too many words on this part.

Summary

The Xiaomi Poco Pad is good at exactly what second-line tablet manufacturers are not so good at: it has decent, economical hardware, and the use of materials and assembly are excellent. It is more believable that it will still be a tablet years later, but it is exactly as expensive as it is more capable. That's a sore point it does not include a 4G modem and GPS, but it is also justified in some way, since not too many people will carry a trepni of this size with them and, let's say, navigate with it. It is not worth taking photos or making videos with it, it is weak in this, but this is a feature of tablets.

What it is very good at is the display, the operating time, the power provided by the hardware and the sound. It has modern wireless standards, that is, Xiaomi weighed the point perfectly: what is important is strong in what is not so much, weak in that, thus much more convincing than competitors. Obviously, that's why they ask for more, a gshopper50  coupon code 87 700 FtDue to the conversion rates of the webshops, the prices may differ for different currencies (e.g. if you set the webshop to HUF, the prices are usually higher than if you set it to USD). However, this price remains below the psychological limit of HUF 100, so the Poco Pad tablet is a good buy.
