A year or two ago, various Chinese running shoes became very popular - e.g. the Li-Nings –, these were practically premium quality products, for a fraction of the domestic price. However, there was one segment that was not covered by these footwear either, which is hiking and cross-country running. That's why I agreed to buy a Humtto hiking shoe during the Singles' Day sales, and if time permits, I'll test it out. Let's see how well it turned out.

Be the first

I also looked at the Hungarian offer, two cheap hiking boots came up, a Head and a Karrimor. None were waterproof, and of course they didn't sell the shoes in my size either, even though this HUF 13-15 would have been the bottom of the story, but this is the starting price, isn't it, since it's always cheap, which doesn't have a size. With a bigger jump, you can get to the Evadict brand in Decathlon's offer, where you can get pretty nice footwear for around HUF 25, but most of them are made of mesh material, so they will never be waterproof. So I ended up staying with Humtto, which a rather self-indulgent choice, especially since the pike cost me HUF 18, alas it is no longer available for that price. This is well beyond my pain threshold, I would have been much happier with the HUF 12-15 price, but there are simply no normal hiking boots in China for that much.

Humtto - First impressions

When I opened the package, I can honestly say, I was a little disappointed. Of course, first impressions aren't everything, but the design is quite, hmm rudimentary? Maybe uncharacteristic is the best word for it, I didn't see anything on it that made me feel like, wow, these shoes are attractive. Its appearance lags behind European or American competitors by orders of magnitude. I could say that the Chinese don't feel the design yet, but that's not true, because one or two Li-Ning shoes look quite animal, and Humtto's footwear also includes - at least in the pictures - some nice pieces.

The other is the nomenclature, which practically does not exist.

This Humtto pike simply doesn't have a name, and from what I've seen, neither do the others, which is quite an amateurish move from a manufacturer that has been making products since 1985.

Humtto - Surprises while using it

Since I surprised myself with the shoes for quasi-Christmas, I wanted to bother with one before the holidays 2-3 hour tour in the afternoon. In the case of new shoes, I recommend this to everyone, because if you break your feet for some reason, it is much easier to get out of a 5-10 kilometer round trip than, say, a section of the Blue Tour. which is 30-40 kilos, there is a mountain to be climbed in the middle and the arrow goes straight between point AB, so it is not a circular tour. Finally the For a stone mountain tour the choice was made, we were able to knead the mud and between 3 and 5 in the afternoon the distance can be easily blocked.

My first impression was that the shoe is comfortable, which is mainly due to the excellent insole.

These Humtto solutions, similar to Ortholite, are amazingly good, I would easily buy them, even without shoes. My second finding was that what a hideous piece of crap ordered from AliExpress Salomon QuickLace imitation corset, which I replaced the factory one with. On the one hand, the plastic end remained in my hand all the time, and on the other hand, it is so elastic that even if I pulled the shoelace, it did not pull the material of the shoe. Of this, you have to buy the one made by Salomon, approx. HUF 2-3000, but at least it works.

As they say, the appetite comes when you're on the move, and luckily, it was easy to grind with Humtto's shoes.

A sole is very good, the wedge-shaped pattern is sufficiently deep - 5-6 mm - and has a similar structure to the decathlon Evadict and Kalenji brands. The latter was my pike before the Humtto, but my Salomon Speedcross 4 was not far from it either, and the one two years earlier. It grips the ground well and pushes out the mud quite well, and the coating is really waterproof, so it fulfilled the two aspects for which I actually bought the shoes. Unfortunately it is not really suitable for hiking in extreme cold, the material is thin, which is a blessing in summer because it allows ventilation, but in winter I get cold in these. Or rather, I would have been cold if I hadn't thought of this earlier, so I supplemented my normal hiking socks with ski socks, so winter marching was completely livable even in this 3-5 degrees.

The Winter Tihany Balaton tour meant a slightly longer distance - 20 kilos - and slightly colder weather - minus 2, plus 2 degrees Celsius.

de basically my impressions have not changed, the shoe adapts to the foot very quickly and remains livable afterwards, of course we will see how well it amortizes over a few hundred kilometers. What stood out was that In 20 kilometers, I never once felt that it was uncomfortable or cold - it's true that the double socks helped a lot -, it fits the foot great, the insole is fantastic and really keeps the water out. The sole is great, I slipped in one place where the upper layer of the muddy ground was soaked, but the ground was still frozen underneath, but I'm sure that the same thing would have happened here with any other manufacturer's product.

Since the mud kneading went well, I can simply say that this sole holds its own against similar solutions from Western brands.

Summary

I have often quoted in previous articles the stanza of Belga Fehérlófia's song that one of my eyes cries and the other laughs, but now the problem was not the one that is usually the case with Chinese stuff. This is a amazingly uncharacteristic in appearance, not very sexy stuff, under the "hood" of which lies a very comfortable insole, an excellent sole and a water-repellent upper part. Unfortunately, many people will not know this, because with such a gray - I mean green - appearance, the dog will not buy it for HUF 18. Especially now 20 500 FtDue to the conversion rates of the webshops, the prices may differ for different currencies (e.g. if you set the webshop to HUF, the prices are usually higher than if you set it to USD). The prices indicated in the article are informative and in all cases are HUF equivalents of the price displayed on the webshop's interface in USD (or in EUR, if there is no USD option) (according to the interbank exchange rate valid at the time of writing the article). that's 18, and you can get a lot of shoes at home for a fiver more expensive, for example in Decathlon.

If you could get it for HUF 15, I would dare to recommend it, especially to those who like to take their shoes for hiking rather than looking at them, because it's an excellent piece for that, and if it gets muddy, you won't worry about its appearance anyway.

  • Water-repellent impregnation
  • Great sole, very good grip
  • It's light, hardly tiring the legs

Kontra
