Hcalory heated ski gloves test

Source: Banggood
I've tested a couple of heated garments before, but never one like Hcalory's - that is, heated gloves - before. It heats from its own small batteries, can be adjusted in three stages, maintains its temperature for up to 6 hours and, I think, holds its own even while skiing. I'm not saying they're going after you for pennies, a BGXIFD229 available with code 21 300 FtDue to the conversion rates of the webshops, the prices may differ for different currencies (e.g. if you set the webshop to HUF, the prices are usually higher than if you set it to USD). The prices indicated in the article are informative and in all cases are HUF equivalents of the price displayed on the webshop's interface in USD (or in EUR, if there is no USD option) (according to the interbank exchange rate valid at the time of writing the article). it's not a lot, but it's not that much by skier/hiker standards, simply because everything in such sports is expensive. But at least the delivery is free and it is sent from a Czech warehouse, which means you will receive the product in a few days.
The other is that it could have some more branded waterproof but breathable membrane - fortunately it received some kind of noname water-repellent surface treatment -,
which will remain the same in the longer term. This makes Gore-Texes, for example, expensive, but once the gloves get wet at the beginning of the day, it's hard to do anything with them.

As for its size, it was hit very frankly,
I use size 9 hand grips, the one I got is an L and this one perfect for me. It's comfortable, the material doesn't wrinkle inside either, so it's fine. THE 2 x 3200 mAh batteries it goes on the bottom of the glove, in a pocket, which I think is a very good solution, so it's harder to fall on them than if they were on top. There is a buckle on the side that can be used to adjust the tightness of the garment, and another that can be used to connect the left with the right. The package includes the charger and one pink and white bags, which I don't know the meaning of, since everyone puts their gloves in their helmets when skiing, at least I've seen this next to the slopes for about 15 years, and when hiking, they put their backpacks there.
The first time I used it in non-electric mode was “Mr. Hcalories",
so that I can measure the general temperature. Married, no worse than an average ski glove. I think that with a lot of effort, you can sweat in this too - although this did not happen in the extreme cold - as in all competitors. This means that when you pull your hands out of it, the lining comes with it, which is one of the things I hate most about this subject. In principle, this is why Gore-Tex membranes are good, because they consist of tiny micro-tubes and allow moisture to escape, but do not allow water to enter. Speaking of moisture, I put the Hcalory glove under the tap and it really repels the water, so it passes this test with ease.

After the "dumb glove" test, the smart one could come in, I turned on the heating and turned the heat on well. The temperature can be adjusted in 3 stages, in steps of 45/55/65 degrees Celsius, the maximum seems quite a lot, especially since a person perceives heat completely differently with his hands and feet. In comparison, the feeling was rather pleasant - I don't think it's 65 degrees, but at least it eats up the battery - and since it only heats the palm, the fingertips don't get as much heat. However, it still has a reserve, usually my hands start to get cold around -5 degrees while skiing in gloves if I stand still, and around -10 degrees if I move. I think the heating of the gloves could push this by 10 degrees, that is, you won't have much trouble with it up to -15 degrees, and in such temperature conditions, the average person does not even go out on the field. From this it can be concluded that it also holds its own on a rougher winter tour, unless you just got caught up in a snowstorm in the High Tatras, but then this will be the least of your worries. The above statements came out perfectly on the Tihany Winter tour, if the wind was not blowing and the sun was shining, then I was warm, but if we moved to the cloudy side and it was a little bit windy, then I blessed my brain that these gloves I took it with me, because while everyone froze, I didn't feel anything.
Its operating time is roughly the same as that specified by the manufacturer, it lasts 6 hours on the lowest setting and 3 hours on a maximum charge.
This overall little, I tend to do more sports at once, and since its charger converts 230 V to 8,4 V with a current of 1,5 A, it actually it could have been solved via USB with a little inversion. This would have been good from two points of view: it would not require a 230 V power supply, and the two batteries could also be charged from a power bank in dead time. In addition, it cannot be easily changed to a larger capacity, because they don't sell 2-cell batteries in every bush with such a connector.
Summary
The Hcalory bring the obligatory but I would have made a Pro version that would include all kinds of convenience extras. For example the palm part could stick better, the battery charging could be USB and the material could have been treated with a more expensive manufacturer's water-repellent/breathable coating, so the gloves were "updated" for the year 2023, but the biggest problem is the short operating time, which is why I was most concerned.
However even in the absence of these, the functionality is not really impaired, I dare to recommend the garment, if you can find a good price for it, the battery can be made fun if you have a "professional" acquaintance. For example, it is worth looking in the range of the W-Tec brand, which appears to be the same technology, rebranded. The trick is that these do not include the cost of the battery, so overall, Hcalory is still a much better offer, especially since the delivery is also free and sent from an EU warehouse.
Pro
- It works well, heats at the right temperature
- It really blows the water away
- It's comfortable, and it's pretty good heat retention as well
- It is cheaper than solutions of a similar level at home
Kontra
- USB charging would be better
- The more branded manufacturers know some extras that Hcalory does not
- It is tedious to replace the battery with a larger capacity and thus extend the operating time
- Short operating time
