It rarely happens to me, but the Astrolux Ti-BS1 camping stove managed to surprise me thoroughly. And no, not with its titanium body or its practical weight of 245,9 g, but with its ability to spoil its great solutions – such as the numerous air intakes – with blatant nonsense. I simply cannot imagine a situation where I would recommend the Astrolux Ti-BS1 camping stove with a calm heart. But if anyone still wants to buy it despite my contraindications, then it is now on Banggood for 4490 FtDue to the conversion rates of the webshops, the prices may differ for different currencies (e.g. if you set the webshop to HUF, the prices are usually higher than if you set it to USD). Astrolux Ti-BS1 camping stove test – A hopeful beginning

The Astrolux Ti-BS1 camping stove made a very favorable impression on me at first glance. The pocket cooker came in a custom-sized, velcro-sealed storage bag. It was small and lightweight thanks to its titanium body! I even praised myself for what a great idea it was, that it is designed to weigh only 245,9 g and measure 10x13x16 cm, So it fits easily in a smaller bag and I won't get tired of carrying the Astrolux Ti-BS1 camping stove with me all day.

Assembling it further reinforced my previous positive impressions. The whole process consisted of folding the sides of the frame into a square shape, then inserting the mounting rod through the tabs on the edges, thus creating the frame of the Astrolux Ti-BS1 camping stove. After that, all that was left was to insert the cooking grate by inserting the remaining two rods through the slots on the top.

At this point, almost everything was ready to start using the Astrolux Ti-BS1 camping stove, except for the fuel itself. Fortunately, I had taken care of this beforehand: I had broken some Jenga blocks before setting off, thus avoiding the difficulties caused by the wet weather.

Astrolux Ti-BS1 camping stove test – Or how to make a big fire in a small space

Inserting the fuel wasn't that easy, because my hand couldn't really fit inside the Astrolux Ti-BS1 camping stove due to the cooking grate and the size of my little one. And since I didn't want to disassemble it, I had to stack the split Jenga elements with my fingertips. Let's just say it didn't take long, as the Astrolux Ti-BS1 camping stove was completely full after about 2 blocks, so this operation can be done in a matter of seconds.

Lighting it seems simple and safe, but it doesn't hurt to be careful, because the Astrolux Ti-BS1 is so light that you're afraid that with one wrong move, you'll manage to pull the whole thing down on yourself.

We can't complain about its burning, however; thanks to its air intakes, the flames shot up to 20 cm, and sometimes a plume of flame even peeked out from the side. He managed to burn the fuel with such great fervor, that within 5 minutes only the embers were glowing. Unfortunately, due to its small size and fast burning, it needs a constant supply of fuel. It reminds me a bit of the Hungarian construction industry caricatures: when a job that could be easily done by one person is complicated to the point where 3-4 people can barely handle it. Az In the case of the Astrolux Ti-BS1 camping stove, this would look like one person stirring the food while the other keeps the fire going, all while trying not to catch fire from the flames shooting out of their noses and mouths.

As a side note, it's worth noting that although the Astrolux Ti-BS1's side was hot - apart from the sudden burst of flames - You couldn't feel the heat of the fire in the air around it, which I also found to be a distinct negative in cold weather. After all, on a cool day, you need a fire to warm yourself by and one to cook on, but I don't think you need the latter in this form.

Astrolux Ti-BS1 camping stove test – As good as the sink, so is the towel

After you're done cooking, it's time to pack up. The makers of the Astrolux Ti-BS1 camping stove weren't really prepared for this either. Not only will the ash stuck to the sides and inside leave your hands covered in soot, but even the ashtray, which is supposedly made of "titanium," will warp under the heat and perhaps even bend the retaining rods somewhat.

Well, I wouldn't call myself a chemistry expert, but I can guess that a material called titanium shouldn't deform when three Jenga blocks are burned. So, I wouldn't bet that the manufacturer's claim that the Astrolux Ti-BS1 camping stove is made of 99% titanium is 99% true.

Summary

The Astrolux Ti-BS1 camping stove is a strange combination of strength and weakness. On the one hand, it is incredible how little fuel capacity it can produce 15-20 cm flames, and on the other hand, it is amazing that it can also melt itself with these flames. It seems that the designers of the Astrolux Ti-BS1 did not take Uncle Ben's advice on Spider-Man (2002) that "with great power comes great responsibility."

I don't recommend the Astrolux Ti-BS1 for hikers, campers, or anyone who wants to go camping. However, it could be a good buy for pyromaniacs and practicing arsonists. Those in the latter group are now 4490 on Banggood.
