Mudiro MR30 car cooler test

Our test subject is practically one From a 12 or 24 volt cigarette lighter socket working refrigerator, with a compressor solution, so its operating principle is essentially the same as your home refrigerator. It consists of four parts: it has a compressor, an evaporator, which cools, a condenser, which releases the heat extracted from the inside of the box, and a throttle valve. The refrigerant is the gas itself, which according to the instructions for use R600a, so you can forget about messing with ice batteries and Peltier cell solutions.

With the help of the partition in the box, the Mudiro MR30 can do two things at the same time: freeze and cool.

You will find everything you need in the box. We already have it on our test site two wheels on the other hand two screw-on tabs is also included by the manufacturer, one of which is much larger than the other and can be folded up, so in theory you can comfortably drag the cooler behind you even if you have packed it thoroughly. The screws required for these are already in place, but the manufacturer also includes a small star-head Allen key. In addition, it also comes with a network cable with adapter, a cigarette lighter plug and a user manual, which is full of smart things.

The MR30 average energy consumption is 45 watts, which is not too much, and the interior ABS and PP plastics made, which you often encounter in everyday life, from the textile industry to automotive parts, and even stationery. These substances are not dangerous for the food and drinks placed in the crate, none of them are toxic. Our test subject has with built-in LED light so you can clearly see what's in it in the dark. You can use it both at home and on the road, suitable for several scenarios: for fishing, long journeys, vacations, camping and beaches, but it also comes in handy when you hit a big one house party or garden party and your fridge is already full, maybe right now you are moving or a renovation it's right in the middle of your home and you don't even have a refrigerator. Let's see what it's like in reality!

If only for that reason, it's worth thinking about what you're going to put in it, rather than aimlessly packing it back and forth, because the chest is not only capable of cooling, but also of freezing, and for this you will need the separating "wall" in the middle, which you can remove at any time if you only use the MR30 for cooling.

and this is distributed in a surprising way on the larger side is the freezer, and on the smaller side is the refrigerator part and in this case you can set the temperature of the freezer -20 and +20 degrees Celsius between. This is very useful if, for example, you go to the beach and take ice cream with you or a larger one shopping you do it far from your home (I am thinking here, for example, of those who come home from Austria to buy Hungarian products or who like to go to rural markets for meat or anything else).

I didn't have to go too far for this, since I plugged the box in at home, set the freezer to -20 degrees Celsius, and then waited to see what the thermometer inside showed. According to the manufacturer 15 minutes enough to drop the temperature in the chest from about 25 (that's what the room temperature was) to 0 degrees Celsius, of course only when it's empty, but in reality it's closer 30 minutes volt.

It took almost an hour to cool down to a maximum of -20 degrees Celsius when empty.

All of this, of course at max level, which is worth choosing if you want to freeze something very quickly. The eco mode after that, I don't think I need to explain, it's a good one more energy efficient option.

There is one on top of the fridge LED panel, which is touch sensitive and very easy to handle. A separate, arrow-shaped "button" is at your disposal to increase and decrease the temperature and it also has a child lock, so that it can't even accidentally be oppressed. You can activate this by pressing both arrows at the same time for 6 seconds until the child lock icon flashes in the lower right corner of the display, but otherwise closes automatically if you don't check for 20 seconds. In the middle of the LED panel, you can always keep an eye on the current temperature of the freezer and the refrigerator, which is indicated by the letters "L" and "R". You can adjust the operation of the compressor with the SET "button", which looks like a gear, as mentioned above max or eco mode.

The refrigerator on paper with a noise level of around 35 dB it works, according to the Sound Meter application, it really is around that, very close values ​​between 31-36 dB I measured it. It hums relatively softly when cooling, but I think it won't be a bother in a car where music is playing and everyone is talking, on the way to the beach or anywhere. Especially if you have a cigarette lighter in your trunk and can banish it to the back, like I did.

The wheels and handles on the Mudiro MR30 look useful, but in reality I wouldn't trust them with my life.

If you pack the cooler thoroughly (and I think everyone uses a cooler to pack it thoroughly), then it is not safe to drag it behind you, the uneven concrete on the beach could not be handled by the wheels at all. I didn't want to risk anything breaking off of it, so that's why I found it better to transport it lifted, which is obviously a two-person task.

Our test subject has three battery-saving modes (low grade, medium high grade), which is important so that if you stop the car but leave the refrigerator on, it does not drain the battery to zero.

If the battery voltage is lower than the set value, the compressor will stop automatically. Setting it up is a bit tricky, but the user manual will help you with everything. If you would rather pull out the trunk after the trip, you don't have to worry either, because still the food and drinks stored in it remain cool for long hours, and according to the manufacturer, the chest can only maintain the internal temperature for 1-3 hours, of course depending on the external temperature, and if you open it a lot, the Celsius will quickly escape.
